New Season Information

Hello Ladies,
The new season is right around the corner and the Play Day Committee and Board have a few changes to announce.  Please read thoroughly.

We will have a Q&A after our 10 am board meeting on Tuesday, February 13th at the Club House if anyone would like to come and ask questions or see the new sign-in procedures.  We will have someone on hand also to explain equitable stroke scoring.  Arrive around lunch and ask all the questions you want.

For the past 34 years the ladies have always received their play day winnings in the form of pro-shop credit.  Going forward this season we will be paying out the winnings in cash.  I spoke with Joe Russello the WO general manager and he is willing to give this a try.

We will determine the winners on play day or the day after and the treasurer, Karen Cearley, will make envelopes with the winner's name, date, and amount and they will be placed in the WOLGA locker for distribution the following week/s.  We will have a log book for the winners to sign/initial that they received their winnings on the play day check-in table.

We plan to have two guest days this year.  The last Thursday in May and August.  We will play a 2 woman best ball and the winners will receive a lovely gift.  Pairings will be made randomly and the members who bring guest will play with their guest.  Only 1 team will win.

Our play day games this year will only be 2 games; Modified Stableford Points and Low Gross - Low Net (2 Flights).  We will play the LGLN game on the 4th Thursday of the month and the MSP game on the remaining Thursdays.  After much data sorting and past year stats review we have determined that playing a points game is the MOST equitable form of golf for our diverse handicap range group.

Low Gross Low Net will be played with random pairings but the 4 winners will be divided into 2 flights. There will be a $10 payout to each winner; Flight 1 - LG, Flight 1 - LN and Flight 2 - LG,  and Flight 2 - LN.  The permanent flight cut will be determined once we start playing in March.

Our Modified Stableford Points game will be played with random parings and there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner, $10, $7, $5 respectively.  Since the game will be neither a Dog Fight nor a Cat Fight we have dubbed the game a 'Chick' Fight.  Point quota will be maintained by me for now.  We will use the same software that I wrote for all the men's groups. The data from last season has been converted and creates an established quota for most of our players.  For the new players we have a formula for establishing the points required.  By playing a Chick-Fight players may play from any tee.  No adjustments for handicap.  Your points are established from your preferred tee.  Even though this is a points only game and you may pickup your ball when you are out of the points for a hole, an equitable stroke gross score will be required for posting to the GHIN system by the statistician.

We will continue with our Birdie and Chip-in pot for 25¢, but we are raising our Mulligan money to $1.  The Mulligan pot will become the Proximity Mulligan pot, as we hope to add 'Closest to Pin' awards starting in April.  More info on that will follow.

I hope you will join us on Tuesday for the Q&A and have some lunch.
Please call me if you have questions and I will be happy to explain all I can.
