Georgia Senior Women's Golf Association Championship Special Tribute

Last night was the GSWGA championship meeting/dinner.  Judy Gann, from the Canongate I ladies group, gave a heartfelt tribute to Mary Alice Ballard.  She shared several sweet and humorous stories about our friend and fellow golfer.   Mary Alice was honored by a standing ovation from over 200 GSWGA members. 

Also, at the Sanctuary Cove golf course, the number one hole had a sign (shown above) in memory of Mary Alice.  The Canongate ladies also wore their red dress pins in her memory. 

We all miss this special lady. 

Sybil Elliott, also of the Canongate group was honored as the oldest member participating. 

Newnan Country Club's Nancy Burks was also honored as "Lifetime Member" of GSWGA for her years of service and participation in the organization. 

May 2nd- Low Gross/Low Net

Can't believe it's already May!!!

This week's format is Low Gross/ Low Net.

Remember we are trying a different format for this. 

1-19  index will be playing low gross

20 + index will play low net

To make things a little easier we will be basing this on your COURSE HANDICAP on Old Course. 

We will reward 1st and 2nd low gross and 1st and 2nd at low net. 

Throw Out the 3 Worst Holes

We had 38 ladies, our largest group to date,  come play

"Throw Out the 3 Worst Holes".   

Results for today are:

1st Place- Brenda Dumas  54.5

2nd Place- Janis Turner     55.5

3rd Place- Trisha Nease    58

Anise Pearson's name was drawn for the free 30 minute lesson and Margaret Lauer won the "Name that PGA professional" contest from the blog.  Answer was Ian Poulter.  (Check your blog regularly for more blog contests in the future.) 

Angela Jerman informed us that she will now be the Performance Instructor for White Oak and the head pro will be announced soon.

What a beautiful day in the neighborhood .... Congratulations the our Champion Ellen Connors. Ellen has won our Ringer Tournament for the last 3 years. She once again has the championship ring. The competition was close with only 3 strokes separating the first from 5th place in flight 1.

2013 RINGER TOURNAMENT

Congratulations to Ellen Connors who won for the second straight year.  Time to put the 'bling' back in the safety deposit box.

This will be a flighted tournament and the overall Champion can come from any flight.  We will play Old Course holes #1  thru #9 twice.  Your best score from each hole will be taken for your composite score.

Congrats to all.  I have heard we have about 36 ladies participating in the Ringer Tournament next week. 

We will be playing Seminole on April 28th. 

April 11th- Low Net

(Is that Susan, Cheryl, Bonnie, Janis, etc.?)

This Thursday we will play Low Net.  This is regular stroke play and then subtract your course handicap from your gross score.  We have been assigned the Seminole course for the day.  Good luck to those playing West Georgia Ladies Golf Association's first event at Fairfield Plantation.
