New Officers Elected

Our new officers were elected and sworn-in at the end of year business meeting.  The following officers will serve for the 2020 term.

Past president, Janis Turner conducted the election and acceptance process in Marilyn Lynn absence.  Janis will also still serve on the board in the past president position.

Diane Tschantz will continue as our communications director and Jennifer Pierson will continue as our Sunshine Committee Chair.

Lisa Jones will continue as the Tournament Committee chair and Karen Thrall will help to organize our play day committee volunteers.  Look for an email during February from Karen about volunteering.

Susan Gillespie will continue as the stats guru and Golf Genius contact.

Announcement about WOLGA on September 26th.  We will be playing at Canongate I on the Roquemore Course with the Cannon Group with a shotgun start at 9:30.  You will receive notification through the Golf Genius portal on September 19th, so please respond there if possible.  Again, there will be limited space so please let me know before that day if you plan to attend or if you CANCEL. We will play our points game that day with SKINS and mulligans. If you have questions about moving to the "Green" tees please feel free to call me or Karen Thrall about moving up.  There is nothing mandatory or restrictive about moving.  We originally set our standard for green at 70 years of age and a Handicap Index of 30+.  Please remember there is a penalty for handicap events when moving.  Players from the forward tee will have a handicap adjustment of -5 for Seminole and -6 for Old Course off of their GHIN index before course calculations.   

Example:  if your index is 30, your index becomes 25.

Play Day Results for July 4th Battle of Chicken Fight Hill

It was a hot day for a battle but our troops were steadfast and finished with honor.  Todays winning regiment was the Continental LANDing Party, of Joan Land, Jennifer Pierson and Carolyn Schuett.  This team had a lovely 54 which was a tie with the Jones Budlight Brigade, of Lisa Jones, Joanne Maxwell, and Karen Thrall.  The tie was broken with a card play off.

We also had some good sharp shooters that didn't fire until they saw the whites of their eyes on #2 and #13.  With their shot being right on target.  Those decorated soldiers were Karen Thrall and Tita Bautista.

Mystery Game Results

Our Mystery Game this month was a fun one to play.  We had a Scrambled Egg Chick Fight.  We used our points quotas for our ABCD teams.  We had some 3 Chick teams but the rotated their 4th player between them with A's on Par 5, B's on Par 4, and C's on Par 3.

Overall it was a successful day and we might want to do this one again.

Our first place winners were the Pebble Beach Team with a +12.  Our consolation team of the St. Andrews group won a box golf balls provided by Scott in the pro-shop.

Great Day for Wildlife

May 9th was a great play day for all kinds of 'Wildlife" on the Old Course.  We had little birdies, big birdies, EAGLES, and turtles.  This guy was trying to cross the fairway on #3 Old Course right in the path of Janis Turner.  Luckily he/she made it without incident.


Congratulations to Joan Land and Hana Kim. Both of these players had EAGLES today.  Chip-in Eagles too.  Joan Eagled # 14 and Hana Eagled #6.  Great play girls.  We also welcomed by our returning long time member Hesper Hall, who has been out with a shoulder injury.

Our 2019 Ringer Tournament was a success.  The weather was perfect (windy...but ok).  We had 24 participants and 4 flights.  Our winners are listed below.

Beautiful Weather Today

We had a great day for golf. Not too hot, windy or cold. Just right. I will be praying for this kind of day come July and August.  We had some good scoring today on Seminole.  It has dried just enough to give some roll and a little bit of cushion.  Susan Clonts shot a lovely 76 today.   We welcomed by Shirley Hasty today.  She has been out for a while, but she came back in style with a birdie on one of the hardest holes.

We say goodbye to our friend, Bonnie Harrington today. She and her husband Dave will be moving 'back' to Florida this Sunday.  We wish them well and a safe journey.  We will be looking for our golf invitations this winter.  Good luck Harringtons.

Next week is our Ringer tournament on Thursday and Friday.  There will be no official playday due to the tournament.  If you have not signed up yet for the tournament, it is not too late.  Please let Lisa Jones or Marilyn Lynn know if you want to participate.  The cost for the tournament is $15.  You can sign-up on Golf Genius.

Starting the following week in May our starting time will be 9:30 so check-in will be no later than 9am.

Beautiful Day For Golf

We had a lovely weather day on the Seminole course for this Masters Weekend.  

32 ladies took the challenge today and played some great golf.

Beautiful Day for Golf

We had a great day for golf and some great golf was played.
We had 37 players today on the Old Course.  We welcomed back an old friend Carole Cavanaugh and a NEW member Jodi Shepard.  We also had one guest today, Shirley Reece from Flat Creek Club.  Our carry-over Chip-in pot had some winners today.  Sorry for the kerfuffle on the proximity holes.  We will strive to do better next time, remember that on points play days the proximity will be flighted by points quota and all other types of play it will be flighted by handicap INDEX.  Thank you for your patiences. I would like to thank all of you today for keeping up the pace of play.  We all finished in our allotted time.  Great JOB!!!!

Play Day Results for March 21st

We had 25 ladies today on Seminole.  The greens were pretty bad, but now Scott owes us big time for our sacrifice.

A few check-in scorecard reminders.  Make sure your label is complete with your GHIN INDEX, gross score,  front and back scores gross.  Please circle Prox if you wrote your name on the proximity placard. Please circle all birdies and draw square around all chip-in holes.  Put how many birdies/chip-ins not the hole numbers on the label. Club ID is your Canongate/Club Corp member number.

If you are keeping the master on your personal card, please put your info on the top portion and your teammates on the bottom section lines.  Make sure there is something in every hole for a score.  If you pickup, place the probable score/max score and an 'X' in the corner of that box.

Remember if you are switching to Green Tees or you do not have enough rounds you will be frozen at +2 for 2 Chickfight rounds. If +2 is a winner you may win.
