West Georgia and Flat Creek

First of all congratulations to 4 of our Wolga ladies who placed at the recent West Georgia Golf League which was held at Fairfield Plantation this week.  They are:

1st Low Gross Winners            Patty Walls

2nd Low Net Winners              Ardy Durden
                                                  Linda Brown
(Not sure what flights they were in but job well done!)

We had 34 ladies play today at Flat Creek.  It was nice to have a change of scenery but we missed our home course.  Flat Creek pros and restaurant employees made us feel very welcomed.  I gave their pro a thank you note for hosting us today and waving our away fees.

Results of Flat Creek
Marilyn Miller won Free Lesson.
Brenda Dumas won 50/50.
We changed the format to Throw Out the Worst Holes instead of Odd/Even Holes due to the confusion of the different nines.

Margaret Lauer- 2
Trisha Nease

Wolga at Flat Creek on April 24

Thanks to Sean, we will be charged to play as if we were at White Oak.  We will not be charged the Peachtree City rates.
Also, we will ALL be playing from the silver tees which is about 4600yds. as compared to the 5300 yds. on the red tees.
I believe it will be Homestead to Graveyard.
Format will be Odd or Even Holes.
See you there!!

2014 Ringer Tournament

Congratulations to Susan Clonts for being our 2014 Ringer Tournament Winner.

Before the tournament began we were honored to have Linda Mitchell's son, Eric, surprise our group.  He spoke on behalf of the family and wanted all of us to know how much the Wolga group meant to her.  He was very touched by the dedication of the  tournament in Linda's memory and the ribbons we wore for her. Several wonderful pictures of Linda were displayed that showed the fun and playful side of Linda.

Let's all remember Linda Mitchell

Linda Mitchell, the golfer

Fortunately, the blog had several pictures over the past 3 years of Linda Mitchell.  Let's remember a wonderful lady who loved her family and loved her golf.  We will honor her memory by wearing ribbons tomorrow at the Ringer Tournament.  She was preceded in death by her husband a few years ago.

Linda Mitchell

(picture was taken during a West GA match where Linda nearly made a hole in one at Riverside)

Ladies, I received this email from Linda Mitchell's son, Eric.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Hi Beth,

This is actually Linda's son Eric. I am hoping you can pass along word that my mom really is not doing well.
She just came out of a biopsy procedure on a very large tumor on her liver. She is just thoroughly exhausted with even the simplest of tasks like walking to the bathroom in her room. I am very concerned and would appreciate the thoughts and prayers of a group she so would like to be with. Golfing just looks so very far away right now.
If anyone would like information they can contact me at Eric.mitchell@woodward.edu or my cell phone 404.427.4314.

***Please note.. Linda Mitchell passed away today, April 16th.

Congrats to Shirley Payne for being the big winner of the Pick the Pro!  We will 'show you the money' this Thursday.

Speaking of Thursday, the Ringer Tournament is our play day.  There will be no playday for those not signed up.  According to Margaret, we have a whopping 50 ladies participating.  That's incredible!  We will have help unloading the bags at the carts where we will check in with Janis.

Next Thursday, April 24, we will be at Flat Creek due to an event at White Oak.  I am not sure at this time which 9 holes we are playing yet.

See you Thursday!!!
