Rain or No Rain on March 12?

Will we or will we not get to play this Thursday?  Only Mother Nature has the answers.  We will be on weather watch Thursday morning.  Our course assignments have not been given out yet but we will need to be checked in by 9:30 sharp for a 10:00 shot gun.
The big question is.... Who will be the first to win a brand new style, Chip In towel?  They are just adorable!  As with last  year, we will  try to get a picture of the towel winners as soon as possible to post on the blog.  (If Beth Shepard is not present to take the picture, please get someone to take one with a cell phone and email it to her.)
The format for Thursday is Best 9, front or back.  Don't forget your quarters for the birdie and chip in containers and 50 cents for your one mulligan.  We also sell 50/50 tickets every play day...$1.00 per ticket or $2.00 for 3 tickets.  (Also, $2.00 hole in one club.)
For play days to run as smoothly as possible please keep in mind:

  • You do not have to sign in with the pro shop as play day chair has a sign in sheet.  Exception is if you pay fees with cash.
  • Check in with play day chair people as soon as you arrive-you can warm up, get your golf cart, go to restroom, and get water after checking in
  • Know your current GHIN index... Remember if you do not have a current USGA index you will not be eligible to get points or win any of the formats until this has been established. (Pro Shop can help you get this started)
  • PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help the play day committee by being as quiet as possible while announcements are being made.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for your cooperation!
  • After play is over, sign in sheets will be in dining room for you to turn in your ATTESTED AND SIGNED score card.  You will also need to fill out your score, chip ins, birdies, etc. before you leave.
  • Results will be posted via email and blog asap.

2015 Opening Day Breakfast and Meeting

It was gloomy and cold outside with no golf in the forecast for today but 50 White Oak Ladies Golf Association members enjoyed a warm tasty breakfast prepared by the dining staff.  Lisa Jones gave  the invocation and Margaret Lauer, president brought the meeting to order.  It was announced that Shirley Payne and her husband, Herb, would soon be moving back to her home in Louisiana.  She was presented a card with warm wishes on her move.  Shirley spoke briefly about her wonderful experience playing and getting to know the ladies of White Oak.  She will be sorely missed.

  •        One of our newest members, Janet Messer,  passed away suddenly several days ago and Ruth Routsong had a bulletin from her funeral service.
  • Margaret discussed the handbook and that it is now on the blog along with the 2015 Playday schedule, by-laws, constitution, and rules and regulations of our Wolga league.  Directory was given out with phone numbers and email addresses.  They will be stored in the locker for those not present today.
  •    Janis spoke regarding tournaments this year and is looking for an assistant to help out.  If you are interested in helping just let her know.
  •       This year you will receive an adorable Chip In towel for your first chip in.
  •       Flat Creek ladies who are ONE members will need to call in to the 1-800-433-5079 Club Corp line prior to playday to get credit for their two free rounds per month.
  • We will continue to have free 30 minute lesson drawing each week.  We will get 20% off apparel in the pro shop on play day.
  • Sean Renaud, our pro, answered some golf rules that were put in the box Ruth Routsong brought today.  Any time you have a question regarding play just write it down on the index cards provided and he will answer a few each week.
  • We had 3 new members present.  They are Carol Hamilton, Melissa Orme, and Judy Powell.  Welcome ladies!!!
Stay tuned for a reminder for next week's play day.  Pray for good weather!

Finally, here are a few pictures some of our members shared at warmer, greener locations.

Janis and Bob Turner at Tiburon Golf Club in Florida which is one of the Club Corp courses.

Lisa and Roy Jones at Gainey Ranch Golf Course in Arizona.  Also a Club Corp course I believe.
