Yes, ladies, it's time for another CATFIGHT.  Remember, check in is at 9:00am SHARP and shotgun on Seminole is at 9:30am.

(The worst part of being playday chair is having to turn someone away after the check in time.)  Do whatever you can to help me avoid this.  PLEASE!!!!

It's not too late to turn in a Taylor Bear.  My grand niece was on Fox 5 Atlanta News on her birthday Monday.  I believe she has passed the 500 teddy bear count but her goal is 700 since she turned 7.  Thanks for your continued support.

Best Front or Back 9 and Guest Day

Here are the ladies who donned their red/white/blue for our July 3rd playday.
This week, July 17th, we will have our second Guest Day and the format is Best Front or Back 9.  (Weather will be perfect with low humidity and cooler temperatures.)  We will be on Seminole the remainder of the month.
Joan Land, Sister Cup representative, informed me that we have 16 ladies signed up for the August 14 event to be held at White Oak. It's not too late to sign up.  Email Joan at bjland@bellsouth.net
if you are interested.
It's not too late to make a teddy bear donation to Taylor Bears, a project my grandniece, Taylor Shepard is undertaking in lieu of birthday gifts.  Bears will be given to the American Red Cross to give to children affected by disasters.   We have two more playdays until I take them to her birthday celebration.

July 10th- Odd/Even

Congrats to Janis Turner in her recent cake decorating certification to teach the artistic skill.  We are always willing and thrilled to test taste her homework.  Those of you were not here today, you missed a treat.  (Yes, Cheryl Drewyer, I ate my piece and yours!)  Tee hee

Considering it was a West GA and playday it was remarkably calm and organized today.  There were not many men playing today.  I guess the idea of so many women in one place scared them away.  The White Oak ladies fared quite well today in the West GA Cat Fight.  Those from our club who placed are
Jennifer Pierson- +11
Irene Drage- +5
Pat Gray- +4
Jane Buck- +4
Patti Wall- +3
Margaret Choi- +3
Susan Clonts- +2
Marsha Mauldin-+2
Karen Borg- +2
Mary Carlson- +2

Here are the results from Odd/Even today.
50/50 went to Judy Bice
Free Lesson went to Tita Bautista

Ellen Connors - 2
Beth Shepard - 2
Joan Land
Margaret Lauer

THERE WERE NO CHIP INS THIS WEEK. $$ will carry over to next week

1st Place- Shirley Hasty 31
2nd Place- Margaret Lauer 31.5
3rd Place- Beth Shepard 33

Ladies, next week the format is supposed to be Beat the Pro as a reschedule.  Sean informed me that some of the staff will be on vacation and he will be short staffed.  Format will go back to what is in handbook,
Best 9 front or back.  It is also Guest Day next week.

You will have two more playdays to turn in a teddy bear which will be donated to Red Cross to give to children of catastrophic events such as fire.  Request is for it to be less than 15 inches, new with or without tag, and not the beanie bag type.  This is completely optional.  See previous blog posts for more information regarding this.

Taylor Bears

Jodie Shepard's grandaughter, Taylor Shepard, (pictured above) has an upcoming birthday.  She is a very loving and thoughtful little almost 7 yr. old.  This year she is asking those near and dear to her to give a new teddy bear which will be donated to the Red Cross to give to children of disasters, mainly fire victims.
Taylor's mom has started a blog which details the generous effort.  If you would like to read more about it the blog address is  taylor4president.wordpress.com
If any of you would like to make a teddy bear donation here is the criteria:
  • New with or without tag
  • Must not be bigger than 15 inches
  • Not a beanie baby
Please do not feel pressured in doing this.  I am just an aunt helping out a sweet grand niece.  Her birthday gathering is on July 26 so we have two playdays before I will be taking them to her.
