Letter from Robert Collier

With much saddness, Robert Collier will be leaving White Oak to take a position with Georgia Power Company.  Below is the letter he sent me to pass along to you all.  He had many nice things to say about our group and I wanted to share them with you all.

Beth,
I have accepted a position with a new company and I will be leaving White Oak. I want to take a moment to say thank you for everything you do for the club and WOLGA. You are a terrific lady with a big heart and I enjoy seeing your smiling face every time you walk in the door.
I will truly miss WOLGA play days. You have a great group of ladies who just enjoy spending time with friends. Other clubs only wish they had a strong ladies group like we have here at White Oak. I will miss helping out with your tournaments. The directing board of WOLGA always does such a great job with the tournaments. I wish WOLGA the best in the future and I believe you have many prosperous years ahead of you. Again, thank you for everything you do and I will miss seeing you and your ladies.
Kind regards,
Robert Collier

October 9, 2014 Best Nine Front or Back

We  had 17 ladies play today on Seminole and here are the results:

Birdies
Arleen Carleo
Margaret Lauer
Janis Turner

Chip Ins
Linda Brown- won carry over chip-in $$$$

1st place- Sandra Lancaster with a 28.5 (Sandra had a gross 88 and it was her first time breaking 90 in a playday)
2nd place-Hesper Hall with a 30.5
3rd place-Karen Borg with a 32.5

Linda Brown won 50/50 (she and Beth go in together to buy tickets so Beth got a little $$ also)
Janis Turner won the free lesson.

Ladies, please make a note of a change in time next week.  Due to the Cannon tournament next Thursday we will START at 9:00 which means we will check in 8:30am SHARP!!!!!
More than likely the format will be "Beat the Champ" (Susan Clonts)  Susan might had an obligation but hopes to be here.  Our net score will have to be lower than Susan's net score for you to win.  No win if you tie with her.
Speaking of Susan Clonts, we wish her good luck as she defends her West Georgia Champion title next week at Mirror Lake.

Remainder of the last month course assignments:
October 16th- Seminole
             23th-Old Course
30th-Old Course (Dress up for Halloween if you wish)
More than likely we will be checking in at 9:30 and shot gun at 10:00am.
Finally, 20% of the GSWGA field at Lake Oconee consisted of ladies from either White Oak, Canongate, or the Peachtree City courses.  That is awesome representation in the team competition.  I will have a blog page dedicated solely to GSWGA with pictures and results.

October Playdays

We are into our last month of play days.  Course assignments haven't been confirmed yet but I will post those asap.
Next week, October 9, is Best Front or Back Nine.   In the mean time, I want to help our friends at Sunset Hills promote a tournament they have had for the past 3 years.

THIRD ANNUAL “AMAZING GRACE HOLLAND” MEMORIAL
  GOLF TOURNAMENT   NOVEMBER  17TH, 2014
        AT SUNSET HILLS COUNTRY CLUB

Grace won our Women’s Club Championship 20 times, won The Senior State Women’s Amateur twice and numerous invitational tournaments, but the best thing she and the Sunset Hills LGA did was to raise over $ 100,000.00 through the American Cancer Society’s Golf Tournaments.
Our goal is to raise funds for venues that supply needs for cancer patients. Grace’s home away from home was “The Atlanta Hope Lodge” at Northside Hospital during her bone marrow transplant
and chemo therapy treatments at no charge.
Please help us by playing in our tournament and/or sponsoring a hole.

Enter name below of someone you would like to honor that has been touched by cancer.
