October 3, 2013- Beat the Champ

Shirley Hasty is up for the challenge to 'Beat the Champ.'  How about you? 

 Here are the guidelines for this format.

We will use net scores.  That includes Susan's net also.  All players who beat the Champ, regardless of their net scores, will receive 3 points.  No cash prizes.  If the Champ wins or ties she will receive 3 points.

Remember, we are starting one hour later for the rest of our season and check is no later than 9:30am.   We will be on Old Course.

One other reminder, October 10, is our last Guest Day.  (We rearranged the dates and formats when Wolga and West GA were on the same day.)  Green fees are waived for NON Canongate members only.  They pay the cart fee.  Guests need to have an established USGA handicap.   

Ladies, our 2013 season is winding down as we only have 5 more playdays.  The weather has been gorgeous and there is no reason NOT to come out and join us.  

Our last playday will be a doozie.  It falls on Halloween and you know what that means....

BLACK CAT FIGHT!!!!   You should come in your favorite Halloween attire and their might be prizes for the most unique costumes. 

 

Susan Clonts Defends her Wolga Title

First of all, thanks to Margaret Lauer for conducting a terrific tournament!  After a first day of clouds and lots of rain, today couldn't have been a prettier day to play some fun golf.  Thanks Mother Nature!!!

Sister Cup

What a wonderful day for some friendly competition among friends!  How close it was between the Canongate I and White Oak ladies!!!! It looked very close there for a while and Linda Brown and Arleen Carleo clinched White Oak's retaining of the cup by winning all 3 points.  Final score was 15-9.

September 12- Throw Out the Worst 3 Holes

Ladies, we want to give you all fair warning that it's going to be a little hectic this Thursday as fifty eight West Georgia Golf Association ladies and our playday group will all be sharing Old Course.  We will all be going out with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM start. 

If you are playing with the Wolga group, you might want to get an earlier start than usual to take care of all your business (sign in, hydration, restroom necessities). 

I'm not sure which holes the wolga group is getting so we will have to wait and see Thursday.  The format has been changed to THROW OUT THE WORST 3 HOLES. 

Also remember we will not be playing as a group on the 19th of September.  However, if you would like to play at Summergrove for $24 let Linda Brown know as soon as possible.  There are already about 6 ladies signed up to do that.  Linda's email address is   www.lindabnhg@aol.com

White Oak Senior Women's Championship

Congratulations to Margaret Lauer in winning White Oak's first Senior Women's Championship!! She will have her own parking space for a year.  Margaret shot an 84/83 for a combined gross of 167.  Other winners were:
1st Low Net in first flight-Margaret Choi with her best score ever today with a 84.

September 5, 2013 Low Gross Low Net

Thirty one ladies played today and as usual it was a close race to the top. 

We had 8 ladies in the Low Gross Category. 
Ellen Connors shot a 77 for first place.
Joan Land and Beth Shepard both shot an 86 but Beth squeaked by having a par on #7 and Joan had a bogie. 

Twenty three ladies participated in the Low Net Category. 
Margaret Choi shot an 86 with net 65 for first place.
Karen Borg and Pat Van Gelder tied with a net 68 however we had to go back to the 3rd most difficult hole to break the tie.  Pat got a bogie on #5 while Karen got a double bogie.

Good Luck to all the ladies who are participating in the Senior Women's Championship this weekend.  Results of that tournament will come Sunday. 


Next week was supposed to be Guest Day but with West GA already here we will postpone it until October 10.  Charlotte Myzckowski will be working the playday desk and could use some assitance if anyone can help. 
Remember we will not have playday on the 19th of September.  There are a group of ladies who are getting some tee times at Summergrove just for fun.  If you are interested in playing contact Linda Brown as she will get with Mike Haddick about the tee times.  Cost is $24 dollars with a cart.
